The main studies conducted in Spain agree in finding a minimum of 8-9% (that corresponds to more than 6 million people) who suffer energy poverty, which in a first approach can be defined as the inability of households to cope with the cost of their basic energy needs. The Chair of Energy and Poverty tries to make a significant contribution to find solutions to this serious issue by taking advantage of the long history of investigation in Comillas University around the main social challenges in our country.
Therefore, Comillas Pontifical University , with the collaboration of a group of companies in the energy sector and social partners, created the Chair of Energy and Poverty. This was constituted in a privileged environment from which it is possible to give coherence to studies, legislative proposals, training and dissemination actions that contribute to mitigation and ideally the eradication of this issue in our country.
